The watches, priced at $600 each, feature 50 luminous ghosts inspired by the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms dive watch. This collaboration has become a phenomenon among watch enthusiasts, blending playful design with technical precision.
Two Editions, Two Styles
The Crazy edition features a layered white dial with visible ghosts in daylight. The ghosts are scattered across the dial, creating a three-dimensional effect that becomes more pronounced in dim light, revealing luminous shades of blue, green, white, and yellow. The Quiet edition has a matte white dial with hidden ghosts that reveal themselves under a UV flashlight. This edition is the slimmest in the series, with a case measuring 11.8mm thick, compared to the Crazy’s 12.15mm.
The Crazy edition has an initial run of 1,500 pieces, while the Quiet edition is limited to 850 pieces. Both watches are 40mm in diameter and feature stainless steel cases and polished white ceramic bezels with an undulating edge inspired by the hem of a ghost’s sheet. This subtle detail adds to the playful character of the collaboration.
Playful Design Details
The watches are powered by the Miyota 9039 automatic movement and come with a stainless steel bracelet and two additional straps. The orange nylon strap provides a bold contrast, while the white silicone strap creates a monochromatic look. On the Crazy edition, the silicone strap features ghost-shaped cutouts, while the Quiet’s strap glows in the dark, adding an extra layer of interactivity.
The collaboration between Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/ brings together their playful design sensibilities. Romaric André, the artist behind seconde/seconde/, is known for his clever modifications of vintage watches, introducing whimsical changes to timepieces from brands like Rolex and Omega.
