Valencia’s Feria Hábitat kicks off with home and design trends - home design trends
The fair’s organizers—including Textilhogar, Espacio Cocina SICI, and the new 360 by Cevisama —position it as a map of modern design, where every sector intersects.

Feria Hábitat València is no longer just a trade fair—it’s a full-scale reflection of how contemporary design works. This year’s event, centered around València Inspira Diseño, merges multiple disciplines into a single platform where furniture, lighting, textiles, kitchens, and materials collide. The shift mirrors a broader industry trend: projects today are no longer conceived in silos but emerge from constant dialogue between architects, interior designers, and manufacturers, reflecting how spaces like hotels, homes, and offices now require integrated approaches where every element—from textiles to ceramics—must function as part of a cohesive whole.

The scale is unprecedented. Over 1,500 exhibitors will occupy 10 halls across more than 110,000 square meters of the Valencian exhibition center, blending global brands with niche manufacturers, textile publishers, kitchen companies, and ceramic firms. The fair’s organizers—including Textilhogar, Espacio Cocina SICI, and the new 360 by Cevisama—position it as a map of modern design, where every sector intersects. This year’s expansion also shows the event’s role as a cultural hub, where commercial transactions coexist with experimental projects and industry debates.

But the event goes beyond commerce. For years, Feria Hábitat has functioned as a laboratory for experimentation. This year, that role is amplified. The centerpiece is Hotel Hábitat, a project by Mexican architect Joaquín Homs that reimagines hospitality through modular, adaptable spaces. Unlike past installations, this isn’t a static showcase, it’s a working prototype, developed with studios and companies to test real-world applications, including how flexible room configurations can respond to evolving guest needs. The project’s collaborative development process reflects the fair’s broader emphasis on interdisciplinary problem-solving.

Designing for human experience in hotels

The forum accompanying the hotel, Foro Hotel Hábitat, gathers experts in architecture, interior design, and hospitality. The schedule kicks off with Ángela Moyano discussing “The Art of Living”, using Larimar City & Resort as a case study for lifestyle-driven design. Later sessions cover AI in project communication, emotional design, and the business of interior decorating.

The program reflects a growing focus on how spaces shape human experience, not just their aesthetics, and includes a Tuesday discussion with Javier Muñoz Posse, founder of Furtivo, on new tools and strategies for hotel design, as well as a masterclass on home staging led by Alicia Verdasco and María Medina, exploring how interior design can enhance emotional resonance in residential projects.

Parallel to the hotel project, Ágora nude returns as a hub for debates on sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation. Highlights include Tiempo + Materia, a Fundació del Disseny exhibition curated by Estudio Savage that frames traditional techniques as bridges between past and future. Other sessions tackle workplace design, emerging talent, and the role of design in societal change, including an Actiu conference on wellbeing and sustainability in office environments, organized in collaboration with Women in Office Design (WOD). The forum also features a professional session hosted by the General Council of Official Colleges of Interior Decorators and Designers, addressing the evolving demands of the contract sector.

One of the fair’s longest-running traditions, Salón nude, remains dedicated to uncovering new voices. Now in its 23rd edition, the space has launched careers that now define Spain’s international design scene. This year also features an exhibition on National Design Awards, celebrating work that has shaped Spain’s recent design history. Andreu World’s installation, a recurring highlight, doubles as a manifesto for sustainable, culture-driven projects, reinforcing the fair’s commitment to showcasing how design can address global challenges while maintaining artistic integrity.

Kitchens as hubs of innovation and AI

The kitchen takes center stage with the return of Espacio Cocina SICI and the AMC Kitchen Lab, where Francesc Rifé’s design serves as the setting for an intense program of conferences and showcooking sessions addressing the kitchen as one of the great centers of contemporary life. On the first day, the forum opens with a conversation between leading content creators, followed by the conference “AI Suggests. Professionals Decide,” organized by Insenia, on the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of kitchen professionals. The day also includes an Antalia showcooking session and Kesseböhmer’s presentation “The Art of Movement,” focusing on innovative hardware and storage solutions.

Tuesday’s program includes a conversation between Michelin-starred chef Martín Berasategui and former basketball player Fernando Romay, both ambassadors for Senttix, discussing the relationship between nutrition, rest, ergonomics, and wellbeing. The day also features an AMC paella showcooking event, the “100% Local” tasting experience, and Manuel Royo’s presentation “The Connected Kitchen: Innovation, Design and Technology for the New Consumer.”

Wednesday’s program includes Kitchen Shopping Day, organized by Focus Piedra and hosted by Carmen Alcayde, featuring Pablo Cerra, CEO of Cloen; Santiago Alfonso, Vice President of Institutional Relations and Corporate Reputation at Grupo Cosentino; Marc Murcia, Sales Manager for 3D Scanning Solutions at Instop; and Juan Diego Jiménez, Country Manager of Quooker Spain. The day continues with Teka’s conference “Integration 2.0,” a showcooking session starring Michelin-starred chef Carito Lourenço together with Biesse, and the Kitchen Party, a networking event for the entire industry.

Materials and architecture redefine collaborative design

Material innovation isn’t confined to kitchens. The Matter installation invites hands-on exploration of new textiles, composites, and finishes, demonstrating how they alter design possibilities. The fair’s ephemeral architecture, led by Odosdesign, ties these elements together under a unified visual language, a deliberate move to reinforce the event’s identity as more than a collection of separate fairs. This cohesive design approach extends beyond aesthetics, serving as a tangible demonstration of how interdisciplinary collaboration can create a seamless experience for visitors, aligning with the fair’s broader mission of breaking down traditional disciplinary barriers.

What makes this year’s fair distinct isn’t just its size or scope, but its insistence on collaboration. Design today demands dialogue between disciplines, and València Inspira Diseño embodies that. For architects, interior designers, and manufacturers, the event isn’t just a place to buy or sell, it’s a chance to witness how their work intersects in real time. The hotel prototype, the AI-driven kitchen discussions, and the craft-focused exhibitions all point to a single truth: the future of design isn’t about isolated genius, but about shared language and collective problem-solving, where every discipline contributes to a cohesive, functional, and culturally relevant outcome.

For visitors, the takeaway isn’t just inspiration, it’s a roadmap. The fair forces attendees to confront how their own work fits into a larger ecosystem. Whether through Hotel Hábitat’s adaptable rooms or Ágora nude’s sustainability debates, the message is clear: the future of design isn’t about isolated genius, but about shared language and collective problem-solving, where every discipline contributes to a cohesive, functional, and culturally relevant outcome.
